Fun Facts About Food In Space

Astronauts have to eat in space, too! Here are a few fun facts about food in space.

Did you know that bread is forbidden on the International Space Station (ISS)? That's because floating crumbs could get in astronauts eyes. Wow! Anti-gravity is such a nuisance sometimes.

Microgravity can dull an astronauts sense of taste. Have you ever  been on a plane long enough to have to eat a meal on there? It tastes kind of weird, doesn't it? It's like that in space. Some astronauts add a bunch of hot sauce to their food to add some flavor!

There's an interesting recycling program on the ISS. Urine and sweat are filtered to create a suitable drinking water. It sounds kind of disgusting!

And the last fact: remember how you can't bring bread aboard the ISS? In 1965, an American astronaut was able to sneak in a corned beef sandwich. I wonder if they were allowed to eat it, and how come no one noticed!

Hope you enjoyed these awesome facts about eating in space!
